You don't have to travel to be a person with life's travels, as these kind of travels are just every day adventures. My life seems to be full of them now, as I left a different life behind in Montgomery County to come to Tompkins County. Back home, I worked three jobs and didn't have much time to smell the roses and think of things like life's travels, as I do now. I only work 30 to 40 hrs a week here, compared to the 60 hrs I was doing back home. That could be another whole story, but i really would rather talk about the life's travels in Tompkins County. I moved here with the thought of finding a full time teaching assistant job, and since that was going to take time to locate one, I took a part time job in the catering department at a local college. I think by now everyone knows how I love food and serving the public, because after all, that's what I did on my last 3 jobs back home. So every day I do so many interesting events and banquets, making me think of life's travels and where it gets a person. Recently I had the chance, was called at last minute to help, to serve at a luncheon that was cooked by a Chef from Italy. Now that is travelling, as he came from Italy to do a lot of cooking events at several places. It was an honor to be there, as I knew not everyone would have had this chance. So I put it in the journey of life's travels and where it has taken me. In fact while I was waiting for this luncheon to start, I was able to take in the amazing view from this high rise building, as we were on the 13th floor. I think my fellow workers were not as amazed as I was, as they had been up there before in that building. The view of Ithaca, it's finger lakes, the college's, the farm land, suburbs, and more, was just amazing. Just one of my little life's travels. Sometimes when I do smaller events, I have time just to watch the show, as they say. Like tonight, it was a benefit for St. Judes, so the kids were doing various shows, which included a hypnotist. It was just so funny to watch all the things they had to do. Then some of them did gymnastics; they were quite amazing. Then some were getting their hair cut to donate it to St. Judes, truly amazing! These are not things I get to see every day, so I put it down as life's travels! I do thank my boss from my last job, at Holiday Inn in Johnstown, for helping me get this job or I would have never had the chance to see all this! I have certainly taken a lot in since moving down here, but there is till plenty more for more to see and do on the road of life's travels. By the way, a note about baking with all the apples you might have picked up for the winter. this is a hint I learned on the road of life's travels. If you like pies and crisps or whatever apple dish it may be, simply bake it all and freeze it. that way your appples won't go bad and the family won't go hungry! Freeze the pies whole or by the slice, depending on how many friends or hungry kids you have! Please don't forget the markets in the spring.... www.fultonmontgomeryfamersmarket.org
